Sum Studios Short-listed for RIBA Awards


Sum Studios has been short-listed for the 2015 RIBA Yorkshire Awards.

Eleven buildings in Yorkshire have been shortlisted by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). They include an arena, three education buildings, three houses, a workspace, a retail outlet, a cathedral and an airfoil-shaped events space. The buildings that have been shortlisted are:

Ranmoor Road, Sheffield by Studio Gedye

Sheffield Hallam University, Heart of the Campus, Sheffield by HLM Architects

Sum Studios, Sheffield by Studio Gedye

The Blackburn Wing, Wetherby by The Harris Partnership

The Knitters House, Holmfirth by Prue Chiles Architects

University Technical College, Sheffield by HLM Architects

Emma England, Regional Director of RIBA Yorkshire, welcomed the news:

“We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the RIBA Yorkshire 2015 awards.  It is a particularly diverse list of projects in terms of budget, building type and locations.  I’m looking forward to taking the jury to visit the buildings and deciding the results.”

The shortlisted buildings will be assessed by a regional jury over the next few weeks, with the winners of an RIBA Yorkshire Award announced on the evening of Thursday 23 April 2015 at the magnificent Aspire venue in Leeds, supported by headline sponsor Technal and Wicona.
